When it comes to Marathon restaurants, I am always looking to try unique new restaurants and unique food combinations.

1. The Stuffed Pig
The Stuffed Pig Restaurant has been a staple restaurant in Marathon since 1984 and is well known for great food, great service, and an awesome atmosphere that keeps the locals coming back. Located at Mile Marker 49, this restaurant offers open-air dining on the patio that is covered by a large tiki hut.
Start your day off with a filling breakfast as the Stuffed Pig offers a variety of breakfasts such as omelets, Country Fried Steak, Breakfast Sandwiches like the Monte Cristo, Pancakes, Waffles, and much more!
If you’re looking to try some local seafood, then check out the Crab Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, or one of the Stuffed Pig Platters that all include delicious bacon. This is our #1 pick for the best breakfast in Marathon, but come early. It gets busy, and there is usually a wait.

2. Castaway Waterfront Restaurant & Sushi Bar
The restaurant focuses on the four S’s: Seafood, Steak, Sushi, and Spirits. Featuring the freshest seafood, 32 beers on tap, amazing sushi, and so many more dishes you don’t want to miss!
Castaway is one of the most popular restaurants in Marathon, so you will want to book a reservation in advance to ensure you can get a table for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is important to note that they are closed on Wednesdays.
Castaway Restaurant & Sushi Bar was previously featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for having the freshest ingredients and some of the best tasting meals in the Marathon. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining that features ocean views.
The restaurant has a rich history dating back to the 1950s when the restaurant was originally built. Back then, it was super popular to get shrimp steamed in beer, as local shrimp boats were always parked near the restaurant.

3. Sunset Grille & Raw Bar
Located at the base of the historic 7 Mile Bridge, Sunset Grille is the perfect location to watch an NFL game, watch the sunset with friends over drinks or enjoy a meal.
The Sunset Grill is the Florida Keys’s longest-running Pool & Beach Party every Sunday! The Beach party has an amazing poolside DJ, cornhole tournaments, music, Beach BBQ, and it is the best party in the Florida Keys!
This oceanfront restaurant is home to one of the largest pools in the Florida Keys, a large seafront deck, and a south seas tiki hut! The restaurant has a fun happy hour from 3-6 pm daily, featuring cheap beers, Cruzan rum specials, and yummy appetizers, including Beer Bacon Cheese Dip. Open 7 Days a week for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
If you like unique food options, then try out the Poke nachos. The Raw Steam Bar is not to be missed featuring oysters, clams, snow crab legs, stone crab claws, and shrimp. The restaurant is family-friendly and has a kid’s menu with six different options.
Don’t forget to end the night with Creme Brulee Cheesecake that will make your mouth water!

4. Burdine’s Waterfront
Enjoy a fantastic view of the nearby boats and birds along the waterfront while enjoying a tasty meal! There are a few waterfront restaurants in Marathon; however, this is one of the best restaurants in Marathon that you can’t miss out on trying while you’re visiting.
Burdine’s is known as a place to relax, hang out and enjoy the view, as it has a very casual atmosphere.
Burdine’s is well known for roasting their own green chiles and making homemade hush puppies which are cornmeal dough balls stuffed with cheddar jack cheese served with raspberry jalapeno dip on the side. They serve their chicken, shrimp, Mahi, and seafood in three different ways: grilled, blackened, or fried. The restaurant only uses GMO-Free Sunflower oil for all frying which is a cleaner oil alternative.
The restaurant is open from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm daily. The dockside restaurant is located upstairs from the Marina shop, which sells ice, bait, and much more!

5. Mahina (at Isla Bella)
This restaurant is located at the Isla Bella Beach Resort and is known as a world-class Polynesian-inspired restaurant in Marathon. Mahina blends Hawaiian cuisine with fresh Florida Keys seafood to offer amazing meals while enjoying an oceanside table in this open-air restaurant or the outdoor patio. Serving breakfast and dinner daily.
Start off the Meal with a Hawaiian-style Poke or Mahina Conch Chowder. For your entree, try the Kurobuta Pork Chop or Lobster Crusted Mahi Mahi, and finish off your meal with Mahina Coconut Cake. The Mahina also serves the All-American breakfast that will keep you full all day as it has eggs, potatoes, toast, and your choice of protein.
Incredible ambiance and experience – they are excellent at accommodating food allergies such as gluten or dairy. The beachfront views are excellent. However, this restaurant definitely has higher-end pricing than some of the other restaurants we have mentioned.

6. Lazy Days South
This beachfront eatery offers a laid-back atmosphere while serving exquisite Keys style cuisine, including seafood pasta, fresh seafood, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, and fabulous desserts that will keep you coming back.
Enjoy laid-back oceanfront dining while feasting on exquisite Keys style cuisine. Lazy Days South offers fresh seafood, seafood pastas, vegetarian pastas, steak, and sandwiches for dinner. They are also open daily for lunch and breakfast.
Lazy Days is known for serving the largest shrimp cocktail in the Florida Keys and also has amazing appetizers, including Conch fritters, Grilled Calamari, Fried Shrimp, and Lazy Clams.
They have a full kids menu, so they are a welcoming environment for those with kids. Enjoy the beautiful waters of the Atlantic from the outdoor patio or the comfortable, inviting environment indoors on a rainy day.
Spent your day fishing and want to enjoy your catch without cooking? Let Lazy Days South prepare your fish for you in a delightful meal (fish must be filet and deboned). All fish and lobster must be in season and at the legal size to be cooked. You can choose to have your fish grilled, fried, blackened, or broiled.

7. Keys Fisheries
Open daily for lunch and dinner, serving local seafood options – either dine in or take out from this amazing restaurant. Located midway between Miami and Key West, this is the perfect restaurant for visitors or locals due to its location.
Beautiful sunsets and a cool breeze make this an ideal restaurant to enjoy a full-course meal. Start with the Conch Fritters as an appetizer, Lobster Reuben as your main course, and if you have any room left, you must try Florida’s specialty dessert of Key Lime Pie.
The restaurant is nestled with Key Fisheries Marina offering the freshest ingredients from Ocean to table. They also offer a Cook your Catch option if you take your fish to the retail market before heading to the restaurant. Served hot directly from the boats, you can order Stone Crab from October to May.

8. Lighthouse Grill
This chic bayside restaurant and bar is part of the Faro Blanco Resort, offering lighthouse views, seafood, and a friendly atmosphere. This dockside restaurant offers a relaxed environment with the historic lighthouse and Florida Bay as a backdrop.
Enjoy a shady environment from the Lighthouse while you indulge in fresh seafood creations, including the freshest ceviche, smoked fish dip, crab puffs, scallops, and salmon. Don’t worry if you don’t like seafood. They also offer steak, salads, and handhelds like the Lighthouse burger.
The restaurant supports local distilleries as their tropical fruit cocktails highlight Papa Pilar Rum. Try a signature cocktail like the Lighthouse Punch – which is light rum, dark rum lime, orange & pineapple juice. Their bar is the perfect place to meet up with friends after a hot day in the sun.

9. Butterfly Cafe
The Butterfly Cafe is located at the Tranquility Beach Resort, so you can either dine in, take out, or order room service if you are a hotel guest. Dining options include an impressive dining room with high ceilings and sophisticated home decor or a beautiful covered patio. Enjoy views of the Bay in this upscale dining restaurant that is only open for dinner.
Reservations are recommended as this restaurant is usually very busy during peak tourist season. The Butterfly Cafe is known for excellent food and great service, as they are very accommodating to dietary restrictions.
They have an extensive Caterpillar Kids Menu, which includes traditional hot dogs, pasta, and grilled cheese. However, I was happy to see they also included some vegetables and Mahi Mahi bites which are different from most kids’ menus.
Enjoy the Florida Keys’ Shrimp Cocktail, Samba Salad, Grouper, Cuban Pork Chop, Scallop Risotto, Horseradish Encrusted Florida Grouper, and the famous TDF ‘To Die For’ Sticky Toffee Pudding or my personal favorite Vanilla Creme Brulee.

10. King Seafood – Market & Restaurant
Enjoy the catch of local fishermen as this restaurant offers fresh seafood from local commercial fishers daily. This establishment is family owned and has been a local favorite for the last 13 years.
Try the steamed clams, coconut shrimp, and three different options of ceviche: shrimp, conch, and tuna. Their specialty meals include churrasco steak, Lobster enchilado, as well as Surf and Turf.
You can order seafood cooked by the pound for takeout using their online ordering system. This is a very casual dining environment.

11. Hideaway Cafe
Located at the family-friendly Rainbow Bend Resort, Hideaway Cafe is a popular spot for special occasions and is a hidden gem that serves gourmet meal choices.
Enjoy the sound of the waves crashing as you enjoy your meal with the special person of your choice – this restaurant is known for its very romantic atmosphere and high-quality, individualized service.
Hideaway Cafe serves high-quality beef such as mouth-watering Beef Wellington, Lamb Chops, Chicken, and a variety of Seafood dishes such as Seafood Puttanesca or Seafood Crepes.
This intimate dining experience often requires a reservation, so make sure to plan ahead. Don’t let the outside decor stop you from coming in, as the exterior is not fancy. The meals are sure to WOW you!

12. Frank’s Grille
This restaurant is always packed and is a great option if you’re looking for authentic Italian cooking. Frank’s Grill has an extensive menu of options, great staff, large portions, and true family hospitality. Since it is a popular spot with locals, a reservation is recommended.
Pub-style decor and inside dining only make it a much more frugal option than many other restaurants. Dinner options include Lobster Tail, Seared Tuna, a variety of veal options, duck, and an extensive selection of Italian pastas including fettuccine alfredo, ziti, spaghetti, lasagne, stuffed shells, and ravioli. Frank’s Grille also serves a different lunch menu from Monday to Friday.

13. S.S. Wreck & Galley Grill
The S.S Wreck is a family-owned restaurant that you will find all the locals eating at as it boasts of delicious food and a great atmosphere.
This is a very casual restaurant that looks like a tiki hut and serves pub favorites with a twist like tuna poke nachos, gator bites, frog legs, conch fritters, Catch of the Day Sandwich, as well as typical options like chicken sandwiches, seafood platters, and Surf and Turf.
If you visit on a Sunday during football season, you will definitely find the game on with crowds of fans watching on one of 20 televisions. Enjoy a day fishing and then bring your catch with you, and staff will cook it for you either blackened or the ‘S.S Wreck Way’.
